With the tax filing season for individuals just around the corner, taxpayers should start preparing for their personal income tax filing. The deadline for submission of Form BE for the Year of Assessment (“YA”) 2021 is on 30 April 2022 while a grace period is given until 15 May 2022 for the e-Filing of Form BE (Form e-BE) for YA 2021. The grace period also applies to the payment of the tax balance.
Taxpayers who submit their Form e-BE for YA 2021 on 16 May 2022 will be considered late and will be penalized under subsection 112(3) of the Malaysian Income Tax Act, 1967 (“MITA”). Hence, it is important for taxpayers to submit their tax return punctually and accurately.
Individual taxpayers should also fully utilize the deductible expenses that can be claimed against their taxable income.
In this live Zoom webinar, Ms. Shalina Jaafar will provide you with an overview of the individual tax filing for tax returns (for non-business income) and brief information about submission via e-Filing.
